The 1st Quarter 2018 edition of the PNNA’s publication, The Nor’wester, is available online at
http://www.pnna.org/news/pdf/PNNAnews2018_Q1.pdf. This is a new 16-page special edition for the annual Boeing Employees’ Coin Show in Kent, Wash., Jan. 20-21, 2018. There are eight color pages, similar to the spring and fall convention special editions that have been published for a number of years. Here’s a summary of the contents:
- PNNA President’s message by James Reinders.
- A short PNNA/WCC Portland Fall Show Report.
- Information on PNNA nominations/elections, annual awards, spring convention, National Coin Week, etc.
- An interesting article, “An Annual Medal – One Club’s Tradition” by Tony Kalt, BECC Medals Co-Chair, together with a page of medal photos.
- Another interesting and humorous article, “What Language Do You Speak?” by Ray J. Fiorini, as originally published in the September edition of the South Hill Coin Club Newsletter.
- Advertisements by ANACS, West Coast Coins and other local PNNA dealers.
Free paper copies of this edition will be available at the Boeing show.
Back issues are also available at http://www.pnna.org/news/norwester_online.html.
Once again, thank you for your interest in the PNNA!
In the last Board meeting we put together a team of folks that will work on creating 75th Anniversary Token and how we will design the finished product. Wood? Copper? Zirconium? Over the next few months we will be creating a contest will, we hope, motivate all of you folks out there to present possible design artwork for the upcoming celebration. Share your knowledge, skills and input to help us on the success of this project.
Contact me ay firstname.lastname@example.org with your input.
Ed Fischer, Board Member
At the August 13th Mid Valley Coin Club meeting, Gerald Williams recieved his award for his exhibit at the April Tukwilla PNNA coin show. Gerald won 1st place under the United States and Canadian Coins titled: The Arts: Numismatic Contribution of the Cooper Union. Danny Bisgaard and myself, Ed Fischer were in attendance when President Bisgaard presented Gerald is winning award.
Gerald often presents exhibits with much detail and planning. And this one was no exception. Go to the PNNA website and see the pictures under the 2012 exhibit section.
I’m new to the Board of PNNA and new to blogging. Hope I don’t mess it up too bad. But not new to Numimatics. I am involved with many Clubs in the Willamette Valley area of Oregon and love to educate and share my finds.
One of our duties as a Board Memeber is to visit Member Clubs. I look forward to visiting as many as time, my job and family allow. I plan to visit North Shore Numismatic Society on September 18th and Seattle Numismatic Society on the 20th. In between I plan to share my love of Numismatics at the Puyallup Fair in between. Anyone up for a road trip to Vancouver BC or Seattle? I’m flying solo, but would love to share expenses and a good conversation. Contact me at email@example.com if interested.
