Friday April 29
The biggest annual coin show in the Pacific
Northwest, sponsored by the Pacific Northwest Numismatic Association (PNNA),
opened today at the Tukwila Community Center, with rainy weather as only a minor
nuisance for most. Reflecting a continuing strong coin
market, there is once again a very strong dealer turnout (about 100 booths) with a wide variety of
material available.
Saturday April 30
The PNNA convention was in full swing on
Saturday with excellent turnout on the bourse floor combined with a full day of
educational programs and meetings. Attendance for Friday and Saturday was
reportedly about 1,200 people total.
 |
ANA Governor Art Fitts delivered the keynote address, What did you do in College, Dad? The talk featured a slide show of Harvard numismatic memorabilia, and was quite
interesting, even for those of us who didn't attend Harvard! |
 |
Juniors on the bourse floor were excited to have
the opportunity to complete a set of numismatic items as part of the
Young Numismatist (YN) "Treasure Trivia" game. Participation was excellent (about 100) again this year! |
 |
Scott and Lisa Loos were announced as the winners of the
Nina Nystrom Memorial Goodwill Ambassador Award
by PNNA president Larry Gaye, and PNNA secretary/treasurer Joseph Boling
received the Bob Everett Memorial Award as previously announced. |
 |
Winners of the judged collector exhibits
were announced. Unfortunately there were only two competitive exhibits this
year, plus an exhibit of the PNNA memorabilia collection, and a non-competitive
display of Canadian silver dollars. |

Sunday May 1
The successful 2005 PNNA convention concluded
today in Tukwila, with fairly good attendance even with the weather now turned warm
and sunny (like last year). Total convention paid attendance
was well above last year, and just about everyone seemed to be satisfied. The PNNA
was
pleased to announce that the association's annual convention would again be held
at the Tukwila Community Center the weekend of April 21-23, 2006.
PNNA 2005 Token Design
The PNNA was pleased to once again offer custom designed and
struck “tokens” for its annual convention in Tukwila, Washington,
April 29-30 and May 1, 2005. The design type is a Roman siliqua with legends that reflect the
show information and dates.
See article describing this design.
The following token sets were available on a pre-order basis:
 | Four-token set (gold, silver, copper and pewter) for $75.00 |
 | Three-token set (silver, copper and pewter) for $15.00. |
Both versions were housed in Airtite holders and
collector boxes. Pewter strikes were given to collectors attending the show,
with paid admission.
