Puyallup Fair Thank You –
It’s Over! – The PNNA sponsored
the annual coin exhibit and information table in the Hobby Hall from September
5-21, with assistance from several local coin clubs. We had handouts including
magazine copies, event calendars, a coin club list and coins for junior
collectors! Greg Smith of the Boeing Employees Coin Club served as the new
Puyallup Fair Hobby Hall volunteer coordinator, and was successful in filling 68
3-hour shifts during the Fair (versus 51 4-hour shifts in previous years).
Thanks, Greg, for all your efforts, and thanks to all the volunteers from the
following Puget Sound clubs: Boeing Employees’ Coin Club, Olympia Coin Club,
Tacoma-Lakewood Coin Club, Seattle Numismatic Society and the King County Coin
Club. No volunteer is knowledgeable about all aspects of numismatics – if your
question wasn’t answered or if you were unable to attend the Fair, please e-mail
your question to info@pnna.org, and it will
be directed to a local expert for a response.
A British Token Congress in Seattle!! –
Thanks to the efforts of British token
dealer and enthusiast Bill McKivor, there will be a British Token Congress in
Seattle, May 14-16, 2009, and Bill reports that plans are progressing nicely!
This event is modeled after an annual event held in the United Kingdom, and will
feature a number of educational programs, including a talk by Dr. Richard Doty
of the Smithsonian. There will also be a bourse available only to program
participants. This event is jointly backed by the PNNA and the Conder Token
Collectors Club (CTCC), and the cost to participants is $395 per person
(including Congress registration and meals) plus the cost of the Red Lion 5th
Avenue hotel for two nights. For more information, contact Scott Loos at PO Box
2210, North Bend, WA 98045, ph. 425-831-8789, e-mail
