Willamette Coin Club Contributes to Relief Efforts
On Thursday, September 20, 2001 at its regular monthly meeting the members of
The Willamette Coin Club
unanimously voted to contribute $1,000 to the World Trade Center disaster relief
efforts. The local recipient of $500 was Northwest Medical Teams, located in
Portland, Oregon. An additional $500 was donated to the Uniformed Firefighter’s
Association of New York City, New York. The text of the letter sent to each
organization reads in part: “The members of The Willamette Coin Club have voted
to assist you in your need to take care of the widows and orphans left by the
tragic and unconscionable attack on the World Trade Centers. We have authorized
$1,000 to be donated to two organizations. The widows and Children’s Fund is
one, and our own Northwest Medical Teams is the other. The Northwest Medical
Teams has sent members to New York City to assist in the recovery. We are all so
proud of you for your selflessness in taking care of the people that depend on
you and this is the only way we can think of to ensure that you and yours are
taken care of in your hour of need. Thank you so much for your care, dedication
and life efforts.” The Willamette Coin Club will continue to contribute to the
community in ongoing projects funded by local coin shows and other activities of
the club. This donation has been made possible by the support the club has
enjoyed from the community as a whole and the community of coin collectors and
dealers of the numismatic community around America. For more information:
