Scout Numismatic Workshops being Organized

James Reinders has volunteered to help PNNA, and local clubs, outreach more to scouting programs with numismatic youth programs. James is maintaining a web site ( http://collect3.com ) with information about upcoming scout workshops and the actual requirements for the scouts to complete. James organized the scout clinics for the Portland 2009 ANA National Money Show™, and is looking for more opportunities as well. “I’d like to have workshops at more of the major shows in the Pacific NW – including the ANA, PNNA and the Salem Thanksgiving show. I’m interested in putting workshops together anywhere we can get scouts together,” James said. He has experience with scouting program, James is an active adult leader in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and was previously the Scoutmaster of a large Troop in Oregon. James has done workshops at the PNNA/Willamette fall show in Portland previously, but did not do so in 2008 due to the proximity to the ANA NMS as well as a business travel conflict.

Portland 2009 ANA NMS Scout Clinics

In connection with the ANA National Money Show™, held March 13-15, 2009 in Portland Oregon, there were scout clinics for both boys and girls. (Coin Collecting Merit Badge Workshop for Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, and a Fun with Money Workshop for Girl Scouts.) James Reinders was the organizer. Pre-registration was required – additional information was available at http://collect3.com. The clinics were highly successful, with some of the best clinic attendance ever at an ANA convention.

Beyond March 2009

Looking forward past ANA NMS in March 2009 – James is interested in the Seattle area shows and getting some workshops going there, and tie-ins with Troops in the Seattle area. Please contact James if you can help in any way – just hooking him up with Scout Troops would be a big help.
